better optimization/quality settings for toaster pcs#12

?

i really, REALLY wanted to get and play this game, and tried to play the demo, but even at the minium settings i could’ve put the game at, the game crashed like 90% of the times i tried to load into a match, and the other 10% were just not playable at all, and thats from someone used to having to play at absolute minimum quality settings, i dont know how possible it is exactly, but if theres ways to get the game running decently on super low end pcs, even if that causes the game to look like complete dogwater, i would love to see them implimented :3

On Steam Deck the game has to be run at 720-900p with the lowest settings. Definitely feel like 1080p with med-high settings should be possible!

Steam Deck user here. Forsburns smoke in particular seems to lag the game dramatically. Prevents the otherwise stable 900p from staying at a consistent 60fps. Ideally would want to run it at 1080p, but currently forced to play at 720p.

I use a laptop with a intel i5 1235U and integrated iris XE graphics and it barely runs would love to see it run smoothly at 1080p.

While this isn’t as good as having the in-game control that this vote requests, I would like to parot some Discord advice that I walked a friend through that solved his performance problems, and he even said he felt the game looked better after:

“for anybody with a very bad potato laptop like me here are some things to make the game somewhat playable! First decrease your resolution, turn off anti-aliasing, then go to Appdata>Local>Rivals2>Saved>Config>Windows> then open up “Game User Settings” in notepad and change all the values from shadow quality to landscape quality to 1”

“For those still having this problem and don’t know how to get to the Appdata folder on Windows, Windows+R and once a prompt shows up just type in “appdata” and it should open a window of the appdata folder.”

I wonder if setting ShadowQuality to 0 will turn off shadows and maybe give performance, as well as what the results would be for setting relevant settings to 0 instead of 1, so, experiment. Also setting the “ResolutionQuality” lower should help some people a bunch if needed. What I would try is having my resultion set as my monitor’s resolution and then decreasing ResolutionQuality as needed.

@-Neutrality- That ResolutionQuality setting is really useful, I wonder why they don’t let you adjust it from in-game?

Yeah it really should be in the game, as well as deeper level control closer to the config

Shouldn’t be steamdeck verified until it can hit stable 60fps on all stages in 2v2’s with any character combinations.

Effects like Forsburn’s smoke, double spawn, zetter’s fire, orcane’s bubbles, etc also tank the fps even in 1v1’s

This applies to not only Deck, but my PC that fits the required specs listed on the store page

Just adding on to this to say that optimization is still a problem on my PC. I have no trouble running overwatch at 300 fps, but this game struggles to get a solid 120 on the lowest settings at 1080p, still stuttering occasionally. I’d love to be able to get my monitor’s full 240hz, but that is unfortunately impossible with how the game runs.
