because of the strength of in place aerials and shield, overshoot aerials feel particularly weak when they should be a call out for dash back.
I think this is mostly due to the fact that aerial oos is such an incredibly strong option even vs well spaced and low aerials.

yup, for the same reasons trying to dash through someone’s shield as a neutral mixup (like you’d often see a marth or fox in melee do, or even luigi with wavedash) is almost non-existant in this game. You can TRY to do it but 99% of the time you’re gifting the opponent a free hit if he clicks any button since every hitbox comes out instantly and has 0 risk on whiff

Too little startup on a lot of moves and too few recovery frames make it practically impossible to whiff punish. I get that aerials should not be easy to whiff punish, but as it is, there is basically never a time when people are necessarily vulnerable, like landing is in Smash. Whiffing moves should be more committal than it is right now.
