I’m so tired of the following:
People trying a character, they lose the first game, proceed to change to their main, and then steamroll the remaining 2 games.
If you are roaming lower rank tier to train a secondary character you should be tied to play said character till the end.
You don’t want to introduce independent character MMR, ok, then do not have me play vs higher rank players than me just because they are smurfing to train a new character.
Implement something similar to other fighting games: Winner stays. Just like in the classic arcade cabinets, the winner is locked into the character they pick (purely for competitive modes, casual mode doesn’t need anything like this)
Personally I’m all for character specific MMR but allowing character swaps in the current system isn’t really any different than what you’d see at a tournament where character swaps happen all the time. What you’re saying about trolling lower ranks to train a character and then smurfing with their main is kind of absurd because it would imply they’re wasting time throwing matches to lower their rank just so they can… win matches to increase their rank? That doesn’t make much sense. The simpler answer here is that they want to win and if they lose the first match, they’ll switch to a character they’re better as or someone else they know how to play who they think has a better matchup against who you picked based on how the previous match went. That or they just switch to Kragg because Kragg is overturned so they expect that to go better for them.
