Scrub guide for noobs on how to deal with cc and how it actually works#212

?

Teach people how to beat crouch canel and floorhug please.
All they have to do is space better or use mixups that actually beat cc. the frame data does not mean someone floorhugging is plus and can actually punish you unless its below 20-30% most of the time they just atke reduced lag and knockback but if you know how to space correctly you should never get punsihed for hitting someone ccing.
a good example is claren tipper dtilt just comboes into itself till 100ish percent if the person is abusing floorhug. and each character in this game has multiple moves that can do that to floorhuggers.

This. floorhugging and cc are NOT bad people just need to learn how to deal with them.

“Scrub guide for noobs” isn’t exactly the best way to present this idea. Being rude and calling people names for not agreeing with you is extremely petty.

It’s not being rude or petty. Calling someone a scrub is simply defining what’s happening here. A scrub is someone who gets angry at video game mechanics because they dislike losing; in reality, they just got outplayed in a situation. Rather than learning and adapting to handle that situation, their ego gets in the way, and they label the mechanics or the game as broken and stupid.

Being a scrub is normal; every single top platform fighter or fighting game player was once a scrub, and we have all been there before. If you can’t handle being called a beginner in something you have very little time invested in, maybe training and practicing skills isn’t for you.

So why not simply say “Beginners guide” or “Starter guide”? Using words like “scrub” and “noob”, to me, come across as hostile towards those who simply don’t agree with their viewpoint.

I’m all for teaching people about mechanics, it’s important for both new and returning players. I fully understand that everyone starts somewhere and that certain things take some learning to grasp, but when a large portion of the player base do understand them and still find them deeply frustrating and counterintuitive, there’s something wrong.

You would actually be shocked at how little most top level players in other platform righters know about cc or how to deal with it.
im decent at melee to the point i can take sets of pr players sometimes. and every once in a while il fight some guy whos nr 1 in his pr and hasb een playing for 20 years and just absolutely gets destroyed by me ccing him till 140% because most people just dont understand how the mechanic works and dont use it correctly.
“when a large portion of the player base do understand them and still find them deeply frustrating and counterintuitive, there’s something wrong.”
Id bet my entire net worth that not even 10% of this player base actually understands the mechanic at all

This should have been done from the start before any changes were made to the game. The game has only been out to the public for three days, and CC and floor hugging weren’t a huge problem for the beta testers until Bio Birb made that video.

A bunch of people have been saying this mechanic is bad despite being experienced with the genre, from the melee scene here where floorhugging is basically required to compete, and honestly I dont know a lot of people who would say that floorhugging is a good mechanic in melee. honestly its just not great and it has nothing to do with being bad at the game or not.

Here is the thing. I truly don’t think ppl even really know what floor hugging and cc are. Because I’M a noob and when I complained about it, I also didn’t know what they were. I just knew people would punish me on hit and it felt bad. But NOW that i’ve played a lot more, I understand the nuances much better. The complaints are 100% from ult folks who aren’t used to it.

I used to think rivals 1 wall jump mechanic was “bad” because I kept accidentally wall jumping to my death without understanding why. But now that I’m used to it, I get it now.

tldr: I hope the devs don’t take the cc / floorhug complaints toooooooo seriously until maybe a few months down the line.

So ur saying me landing a forsburn dtilt i should get punished at 20? BUT if ranno lands a dtilt at the same percent I get knocked up instead? great suggestion!

what do you mean man you play forsburn he doesnt need rannos dtilt. you can literally just use nair fsmash bair ftilt instead and all of these moves wouild work clap the cheeks of someone holding down.
once again skill issue
