Keyboard support suggestions#220

  • Make alt key bindable

Auto-walk suggestion: have an option to dash or walk without having to bind another key. This would also mean having fastfall on by default which isn’t the case right now with auto-walk (currently, you need to have the walk/run mod held to fastfall.)

  • It could be double tap to dash
  • It could also be an option where there’s a keybind for “shield/dash”. How this would work is if a direction is being held and the button is pressed, a dash would activate. If a direction isn’t being held, a shield would activate. This wouldn’t interfere with dodging as the input for dodging is shield first before a direction key; it wouldn’t trigger in the air either as pressing the button in the air would trigger an air dodge no matter what.
  • It could also just be making it so that when you have tap jump off, holding up then holding left or right will start a walk instead of having to have a separate key for walking. Right now it does a moonwalk instead which you could also do with holding down instead of up. The ideal situation for this is to still be able to moonwalk with down but be able to walk with up which would require keyboard controls to not just simply mimic controller controls.
  • It could also be just allowing multiple actions be bound to the same key. This would mean you can bind a walk key and a direction key to something close to your normal direction keys to walk which would be very easy to access. For example, in a WASD format you could put your walk directions into Q and E and be able to do stuff such as turn around easier.
  • It could also be just having dpad bindable which would work for the same reason as above since you could use dpad to walk.
  • It could be just adding walk left walk right bindable options.

or it could all be implemented for preference and just more options in general for people :).

Dash buffer suggestion: make it so that holding a direction after another action (jump, attack, crouch) will initiate another dash. I understand the way it is now makes it good to cancel jab into tilts and do tilts after jump but there’s probably a better way to implement this.

  • It could be where after an action, if a directional key is held down for a certain amount of time or when the character walks a set amount of distance, they will transition into a dash. This will allow tilts and jab tilts to still be smooth while not requiring another input when you intend to dash to chase an opponent.

I update this comment every once in a while to add more suggestions.

I need alt bindable so badly. Hell, even just enable the key and leave it at that; even if it does shortcuts or whatever at least then I can use AutoHotkey to set it the way I do for Rivals 1. The only way I can play the game effectively without a comfortable shorthop button is picking Fleet, sniffing glue, and spamming side special and strong attacks in neutral.

Seriously the main thing keeping me from spending money on this game is I’m not sure if I can stick with it if the alt key remains unusable. Dan please, I beg. My $20 is on the line, Dan!
